In Hollow Knight: Silksong, Mask Shards are one of the most valuable collectibles you can track down. Gathering four of them grants Hornet an additional mask of health, making boss battles and tough platforming sections far more manageable. Missing even a couple can leave you at a big disadvantage later on, so it’s worth exploring carefully.
Below you’ll find a detailed list of the known Mask Shard locations in Silksong, along with the requirements for reaching them.
Bone Bottom Mask Shard
The earliest Mask Shard is available from a vendor in Bone Bottom. Speak with the shopkeeper here and spend 300 Rosaries to secure your first piece toward a health upgrade.
Far Fields Mask Shard
After obtaining the Drifter’s Cloak from the Seamstress, you unlock the Glide ability. Use it to reach the upper section of the Seamstress’s chamber. Look for some destructible explosives and trigger them to open a passage to the top-left corner. Clear the path by releasing blocked gusts, then drop a bomb from the ceiling to break through the floor. This reveals a hidden room with a Mask Shard waiting inside.
Wormways Mask Shard
Travel to the western reaches of Mosshome and ride the elevators. To grab the shard here, you’ll need either Swift Step (Dash Sprint) or the Glide ability. Move across the elevator tops until you reach the next chamber. Watch out for the acidic projectiles from enemies while moving east. In the following room, fall into the water and strike the right-hand wall to expose a hidden area containing the shard.
Deep Docks Mask Shard (The Marrow Route)
Starting in The Marrow, make your way through a locked gate that leads into Deep Docks. To reach this shard you must have both the Drift and Wall Jump abilities. Climb to the upper-right section of the connecting chamber, where a locked encounter awaits. Defeat the wave of enemies to clear the way and move forward into a chamber holding the Mask Shard.
Shellwood Mask Shard
Near the Shellwood area, close to Shakra and the Flea NPCs, there’s another shard. Head toward the top-right corner of the room and smash through a fragile wall. Inside you’ll face a short platforming puzzle — complete it to obtain this Mask Shard.
Why Collect All Mask Shards?
Every set of four Mask Shards increases Hornet’s maximum health by one mask. With higher health, battles become less punishing, and you’ll have more breathing room against Silksong’s challenging bosses. If you’re aiming for a smoother adventure, make sure you collect every shard you can.
We’ll continue to update this guide as more shard locations are discovered. Check back often to ensure you don’t miss any upgrades during your journey through Pharloom.
